COLLAPSED INSULATED GLASS
Sealed insulated glass (IG Glass) can either concave inwardly or convex outwardly. Concaved glass is more commonly known as collapsed insulated glass. When insulated glass collapses, the thermal performance is reduced causing excessive energy loss. Heating or cooling costs will increase. If the glass deflects enough, glass breakage will occur. Whether the insulated glass is convex or concaved, both can result in seal failure which causes inert gas loss and moisture forming in between the two sheet of glass. If viewed from the exterior of the project, collapsed glass can easily be observed. The center window is normal and the right and left windows have collapsed glass.
OUTER FRAME WOOD ROT OF VINYL CLAD WINDOWS
Since the wood outer frame is encapsulated with vinyl, any prolonged water infiltration into the outer frame will prematurely rot the wood which is found at the jambs and head.
WATER INFILTRATION AND PREMATURE BIOLOGICAL DECAY DUE TO HIDDEN DEFECTS
The causation of rain water that infiltrates through or around the window or door system can be obvious or it can be hidden. Either way, if the water infiltration is prolonged, it will cause premature biological decay of fenestration systems and or the wall envelope components. Disassembly forensic analysis of the window or door will identify rain water paths.
